The things organisers ask on the phone, answered the same way we would answer them on the phone.
No. Players never pay Golf Sessions anything, on any tier. The organiser buys the event once and everyone else — players, captains, spectators, the pub — uses it free. There is no per-player charge and no upsell inside the scoring screen.
When you publish. You can build the whole thing first — teams, players, sessions, the draw — and see exactly what you have bought before you buy it. Nothing is owed until you publish, and card payment is not open yet — ask us for a code.
If you have not published, you have not paid. If you have published and the event is cancelled or moved, write to us before the first tee time and we will refund or roll the purchase onto the new date. See the terms for the exact wording.
One free Cup-tier event per registered charity per year. Request a code with your charity number and we check the register before issuing it. It is the same product, not a stripped-down one.
Singles, fourballs (better ball or both balls added), foursomes, greensomes, Texas scramble, and individual Stableford or strokeplay rounds where the best cards from each team decide the day. Each session picks its own format, so a three-day event can be fourballs on Friday, foursomes on Saturday and singles on Sunday. Separately, the whole Cup is scored one of two ways: traditional match play, where each match is worth a point and results read 3&2, or every hole counts, where every hole of every match is a point in its own right. The app explains each choice as you make it.
You enter each player's WHS index once. The app derives the course handicap from the tee you have picked — index × (slope ÷ 113) + (rating − par) — then applies the session's allowance and hands out the shots by stroke index. You never allocate a shot by hand.
No, and we would rather you did not. You pick a course and a tee from the list; par, stroke index and yardages come with it. Getting a stroke index wrong quietly changes who wins holes, so it is not left to a tired organiser at 11pm.
Tell us which one and we will add it. It usually takes a day. In the meantime you can run the event on any course that is listed and change the tee later — every score is re-derived from the gross numbers, so nothing is lost.
Yes. Every event gets a free practice match that scores exactly like a real one — enter holes, flag a dispute, close it out — and it never counts towards the Cup or shows on the board. Use it to teach your captains on the range.
Organisers, and the players in a match once they have claimed their invitation. Everyone else sees the live board and can do nothing to it. Each invitation is a one-person link that stops working once it is claimed, so a link forwarded around a WhatsApp group cannot be used twice.
The app keeps working. Scores you enter offline are held on the phone and sent the moment the signal comes back, wherever you are in the app by then — you do not have to go back to the card. The event you last opened is kept on the phone too, so the app still opens in a blackspot. Most good courses have a few holes with no signal at all — this was built for those holes.
Yes. Change the hole and everything downstream re-computes — the match result, the session points, the overall score, the board. Organisers also have a "Recompute scores" button on the manage page for the rare day the numbers need re-deriving from the cards.
Concede the hole or the match from the scoring screen. A conceded match closes out with the correct margin and the points go where they should. Halved matches split the point.
A full-screen scoreboard built for a TV. Open it on a laptop, cast it, and leave it — it shows only the session being played, updates itself, and is legible from the other side of the room.
Yes. Every result, every session and the final score generate share graphics in square and story sizes, in your team colours, with your sponsors on them. They are made to be posted without editing.
They stay. The event page, the board and every match card remain readable, and each player keeps a profile with their record. If you run a series, the order of merit adds up across events.
Yes — write to us and we will remove the event and everyone on it. The privacy notice sets out what we hold and for how long.
